Position Description
Lindsay Africa is seeking a Customer Service Specialist whose primary responsibilities are to provide administrative support to the Customer Service & Marketing Manager. This will include organizing and overseeing product shipments domestically and internationally (while ensuring legal compliance), tracking products, maintaining records of transactions and ensuring proper communication and liaison with customers in relation to these.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Handling daily product export and local shipments from receipt of orders until invoicing.
- Requesting rates from carriers, airlines, transporters, agents etc. and quoting transport services to customers according to their inquiries and needs.
- Providing advice to customers regarding logistic processes, documentation, inspections, letters of credit, or any other shipping questions which may arise.
- Booking, arranging for or confirming cargo space with carriers.
- Issuing freight purchase orders to transport agent.
- Preparing and/or processing shipping and export documentation.
- Assisting/ forwarding all necessary information and documentation to Customs in accordance with R.S.A government regulations.
- Preparing and/or sending advance notifications of shipments or other documents (draft paperwork for checking, vessel schedules or airway bill) to agents, shippers or consignees as required.
- Verifying correct information on Export invoices with the Finance Department.
- Maintaining all records of export functions and ensuring adherence to regulations.
- Communicating with all external and internal partners as well as customers to ensure smooth transport arrangement of products.
Required Qualifications
- Understanding and knowledge of export regulations and documents.
- Proficient in use of MS Office packages and relevant export or product tracking software – NAV system
- Have understanding and able to review Letters of Credit (check latest shipping dates, ports, documents required)
- Full understanding of Incoterms as these are part of the sale contract
- Excellent attention to detail

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal Skills
