Position Description
Lindsay Corporation is hiring a dynamic Electrical Test Engineer II (Instrumentation/Mechatronics) who is customer-focused and passionate about making products safer, more reliable, and more durable. This position will report to the Senior Director, Product Integrity. In this position, the successful candidate will design and perform tests on perform electrical and electronics testing on Lindsay products, both in the laboratory as well as in the field (outdoor/farm), as well as evaluate results to make recommendations for product improvements.
Position Details
This is a full-time, Lindsay, Nebraska based position. 40 hrs./week and includes salaried employee benefits. Expected travel required: 20-30% to various test sites, locally and nationally.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Electrical Test Engineer II will be responsible for leading the test program development for Electrical, Instrumentation, and Mechatronics product groups
- They will direct and/or execute test programs and analyze test results. They will communicate those results and make design recommendations to appropriate internal or external customers, including design, electrical, and test engineering teams, as well as management personnel.
- Plan and conduct a performance evaluation of prototype and production equipment using field tests and lab environments with simulated field conditions
- Design and set up controls for automated testing; Set up Data loggers and utilize high-accuracy data acquisition techniques to collect data (DEWESOFT or similar) and data analysis
- Lead the review of product designs for potential areas of weakness
- Utilize FMEA/DVP&R techniques to enhance product reliability and product durability
- Validation and benchmarking of equipment with embedded real-time software and electrical controls, and systems
- Organize test programs, including facilities, manpower, procedures, and timing
- Review product hardware and software specifications for potential issues
- Work closely with design engineering to improve product design specifications
- Perform concept evaluations and engineering feasibility evaluations
- Read & understand schematics and use them for debugging & testing
- Prepare detailed reports and test procedures documenting the results, methods, and equipment used in product evaluation
- Work with other engineers and technicians to develop production validation test programs
- Evaluate results and recommend corrective action when required
- Lead the evaluation of the control system and electrical subsystem design through FMEA analysis
- Collaborate (and sometimes) give directions to other engineers, test technicians, or drafters
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Agriculture, or Electromechanical Engineering or Technology from a university with an ABET-accredited program
- 5+ yrs of design or test experience of Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics or Ag related products
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Proficient in MS Office
- Previous knowledge and experience working on Irrigation or mechatronics systems is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of electronics/electrical systems and willingness to learn the National Electrical Code.
- Ability to communicate technical problems and solutions to train and outline problems.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. up a ladder.
- Valid driver's license and willing to travel.
