Position Description
The Operations Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing supply chain processes, managing production schedules, and ensuring efficient operations to meet business objectives. This position is located in Olathe, KS, and reports directly to the site’s General Manager. The incumbent can work a hybrid schedule of 4 days/in-office (with Fridays being optional).
Key Responsibilities
- Demand Management: Analyze and resolve internal and external issues affecting demand management and operational efficiency.
- Production Planning: Develop and manage the production operations plan and Master Production Schedule to ensure timely delivery of products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between various departments (e.g., sales, marketing, manufacturing) to align operational plans with business goals.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and drive improvements in planning processes.
- Supply Chain Management: Lead initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency, including vendor management and purchasing strategies for raw materials.
- Team Leadership: Direct and develop the operations planning team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Leverage industry best practices and continuous improvement methodology to continually enhance the Operations Planning process to meet demand, including sales forecast review, production scheduling and capacity management.
- Overall supervisory responsibility of the Production Planning department
- Review current Production Planning procedures and identify opportunities for improvement
- Assist in the Production Planning process and fill day-to-day workload gaps as needed
- Coordinate production workflow for multiple products and departments
- Plan and prioritize operations to ensure maximum performance and minimum delay
- Monitor material supply flow and identify any shortages or bottlenecks
- Prepare and update planning & materials requirements based on sales forecast and open sales orders
- Act as point of contact for sales and engineering on production lead-time
Skills/Requirements
- 3+ years of operations planning experience in established organizations manufacturing electronic industrial products
- In-depth knowledge of ERP systems
- A proven record of achieving production, delivery, and quality objectives in a growing technology or industrial product organization
- Demonstrated change management capabilities at team and business levels
- Proven ability to plan and manage at the operational level
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff in a results-driven, team-oriented environment
- Ability to multi-task and drive multiple parallel projects to conclusion
- Full functional use of Office 365 products
