Test Operator III (Electronics)

Location: Olathe, Kansas

Department: Test

Hours: Monday through Thursday 6:00am to 3:30pm. Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm. Every other Friday off. Occasional extension of typical hours may be necessary, depending upon business needs.

Reports To: Production Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

The Test Operator III is responsible for performing electronic testing from the component level through the top system level, including environmental testing and final acceptance testing using established procedures. This position sets up basic test hardware and software, operates test equipment, documents results, identifies product or fixture-related issues, and supports communication between production, engineering, supervision, and management to ensure products meet quality and customer requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform tests from the component level through the top system level, including environmental tests and final acceptance tests from established test procedures.
• Set up basic test hardware and software.
• Interact with engineering and production departments to support testing, troubleshooting, and product flow.
• Maintain and adhere to established test procedures.
• Utilize a multimeter, oscilloscope, and other test equipment for testing purposes and part checks.
• Make acceptance or rejection decisions on quality workmanship consistent with IPC specifications and customer drawings.
• Keep management and supervisors informed of problems, discrepancies, and possible product improvements.
• Take care of company assets and use tools, fixtures, equipment, and materials responsibly.
• Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company’s Quality Management System.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

SKILLS REQUIRED

• Strong knowledge of electronic test processes and basic troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to use multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other test equipment accurately and safely.
• Ability to interpret electronic visual aids, customer drawings, test procedures, and quality requirements.
• Ability to communicate test issues, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities clearly.
• Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, supervision, and management.
• Strong attention to detail, dependability, and commitment to quality workmanship.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in testing digital and analog circuits to the component level.
• Understands IPC Class 2 and Class 3 specifications for inspection.
• Ability to interpret electronic visual aids and identify common components.
• Ability to operate more complex tests and perform basic assembly inspection.
• Ability to differentiate issues induced by fixtures from issues induced by PCB errors.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to operate a Windows PC to run basic test functions.
• Must be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
• Excellent attendance is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to move and manipulate assemblies up to 10 pounds.
• Must be able to operate various hand tools and test equipment.
• Work is performed in a manufacturing and test environment where safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements must be followed.
