Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to oversee our Data Services team. This position combines technical expertise in artificial intelligence, data engineering and analytics with strong leadership capabilities. The Manager of Data Services, will drive the design, development and implementation of advanced data solutions, research initiatives and cross-functional collaborations. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, this role is pivotal in shaping our data culture, delivering innovative products and enabling data-driven decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of data engineers, analysts, and scientists.
    • Foster a collaborative, innovative and inclusive team culture aligned with organizational values.
    • Manage internal and external resources to optimize delivery timelines and efficiency.
  2. AI and Data Science Initiatives:
    • Oversee the design, development and delivery of AI, data science and analytical solutions, including predictive models and new product features.
    • Lead research projects and ensure the implementation of cutting-edge methodologies and tools.
    • Act as a subject matter expert in AI and data science, mentoring team members and providing technical guidance.
  3. Data Engineering and Infrastructure:
    • Deliver high-quality, scalable data products to support analytics and data science activities.
    • Champion data governance and ensure adherence to best practices across the organization.
  4. Cross-functional Collaboration:
    • Partner with leaders across the organization to identify opportunities for data-driven improvements.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts, financial analysts and business leaders to deliver impactful solutions.
    • Act as a trusted advisor, communicating technical concepts in business terms and aligning data strategies with organizational goals.
  5. Innovation and Strategy:
    • Build and execute an analytics strategy that supports organizational growth and innovation.
    • Identify emerging technologies and trends, incorporating them into the team’s practices and solutions.
    • Establish enterprise reporting governance and enable business users to create actionable insights.
  6. Communication and Reporting:
    • Develop clear visualizations and stories to communicate complex analyses to stakeholders.
    • Provide technical assessments and communicate findings, recommendations, and outcomes effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in research, statistics, data mining/modeling, predictive analytics and artificial intelligence concepts and methods, including 2+ years of experience leading the on-time delivery of net-new data science or AI projects/solutions using current technologies and tools
  • Demonstrated mastery and ability to mentor others on all of the following technologies and tools: statistical/general-purpose programming languages (R, Python, C#/.NET etc.), SQL databases (MS SQL, PostgreSQL, etc.), NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.), Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence tools (Azure ML, Google ML, etc.)
  • Significant experience managing, implementing and designing data science/AI initiatives and research projects
  • Experience in data analytics strategy, planning and implementation in public cloud.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization
