Position Description
Lindsay Corporation is hiring a Software/IoT Engineer within its overall technology engineering organization. This important role will be responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering hardware, firmware, and software solutions for Lindsay’s various product lines, including new products and features. Additionally, this role will also be responsible for updating and performing routine maintenance on existing products and solutions, as assigned each development sprint.
What makes this position unique is that it allows the incumbent to immediately see the impact they are creating within this role. They will be able to dabble in all areas software and IoT, but also be working directly with/alongside someone who is equally (if not more) passionate about designing, implementing and delivering software solutions (i.e. their manager).
Position Details
This is a full-time, salaried position based in Omaha, NE and includes a highly competitive salary/benefits package. The incumbent will work a hybrid schedule from the Omaha Corporate Headquarters, where core in-office days are Tuesday-Thursday. Travel requirements will be minimal (<15%), but there may be some travel to various office locations, conferences, and solution installation sites.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in designing, developing, testing, and delivering high quality hardware, firmware, and software solutions, including new products and features
- Delivers solutions on time and within the functional specifications
- Performs routine maintenance on existing software and firmware codebase, as assigned during each sprint
- Participates in code reviews, design reviews, or other forms of team quality assurance procedures
- Enforces quality gates and key processes, policies, and procedures
- Unit tests code and debugs thoroughly prior to hand-off
- Researches and resolves reported hardware, firmware, and / or software problems efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner
- Clearly communicates issues and roadblocks in order to maintain sprint scope and efficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, equivalent technical education, or equivalent practical experience will be considered for candidates who demonstrate a strong track record of hands-on know-how
- 5+ years of relevant, professional IoT engineering experience, including 2+ years of experience leading the on-time delivery of net-new IoT engineering projects/solutions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where constant iteration, improvement, and innovation is key to the success
- Strong problem solving and research skills
- Familiarity with reading hardware schematics
- Experience with and passion for designing and building Internet of Things (IoT) devices
- Demonstrated proficiency and experience with the following languages, technologies, and tools:

- Experience with M2M cellular and satellite communications

- NoSQL databases (i.e., Cassandra, mongoDB, etc.)
- Event streaming tools (i.e., Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
- Container orchestration tools (i.e., Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service, etc.)
- Constrained electronic designs (memory and throughput)
- Digital interfaces and protocols including SPI, I2C, and UART
- Compilers and RTOS
- Cellular modem technology
